Week of 10/18/10-10/22/10

Computer Applications-Students will continue to work in Excel this week. We will be using formulas. I have finished grading all the work from last week and posted grades for all computer application classes. Parents can check on Star or ask the students, I post grades by student ID numbers in class.

Personal Finance-We will finish Chapter 8 on Budgets and Contracts and take a test on Tuesday. Monday we will review all the test questions. After the test we will begin a budget project. This should take a several days to complete. I will update grades after I have graded the test. Studets do have 2 grades posted and I will add one more daily work grade with the test. Students will receive a grade for the completed project.

Start of the Second Nine Weeks.

Most students did very well in class the first nine weeks. I have grades posted in class so students should know what their 9 week grade is in class.

Computer Applications-We will begin Microsoft Excel on Monday and will continue to work in Excel for 3 to 4 weeks.

Personal Finance-We will start with budgets, Students will complete the chapter work on budgets and then we will work on a budgeting project after we finish the chapter and take a test.

Week of 9/14-9/17/10

Computer Applications-We will be starting personal business letters this week. Due to the school being closed on Monday, we will finish this unit the first of next week. We took a quiz on History of Computers last Friday and I was not happy with grades as a whole. I will be giving students a chance to retake the test next week to replace a low grade on the test. It is strictly voluntary. I will have students sign up to retake the next on Wednesday. The makeup will be before school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

Personal Finance-We will finish Chapter 2 on Tuesday and I will review on Wednesday and we will have a short test on Thursday and start the next chapter after the test.

Week of 9/7-9/10

Computer Applications-I will have grades updated by Tuesday night for last week. We will begin History of computers on Tuesday. Students will read a packet on the history of computers and answer questions. We will watch a short film on the subject and have a review on Wednesday with a test on Friday.

Personal Finance-We will review for a test on Chapter 1 and have a test on Wednesday. We will begin chapter 2 on Wednesday after the test. i will have grade updated hopefully by Thursday, Friday by the latest.

Week 8/30/10-9/3/10

Computer Applications-Grades are in for last week. You should be able to see them on Star. Progress reports go home on Wednesday. We are starting unbound reports on Monday and we should finish up by Friday. No quiz over this material. Students will take a typing exam over tabs and memos this week on Friday.

Personal Finance-We will finish presentations on Careers on Monday. I will post grades for the PowerPoints Tuesday morning. Progress reports go out Wednesday. We will start having more grades starting this week as we will start out of the textbook on Tuesday.

Week of 8/23/10-8/27/10

Computer Applications-We will continue with Unit 7 (Memos and e-mail) and setting tabs. After Monday I will have a better idea when the test over the material will be. It will probably be on Thursday or Friday. I'll repost when I know for sure. Students will not have any further grades until then.

Personal Finance-We will be finishing powerpoints over careers today and we will add formats Tuesday. Students will begin presentations on Wednesday. We will start in the text book when we finish the presentations. I hope to start on Friday in the text book.

Week of August 16-20

Computer Applications: Students will be finishing MicroType on Wednesday. They will receive 50 points for lessons 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20. Some students may need to come by my room to complete the work in the mornings or the afternoon. Students took a quiz on Computer Work Stations on Friday. I have posted those grades so students will know there grade on the quiz. On Thursday we will be starting in Microsoft Word, working with memos, e-mails, and tabs. Students will have a test next week probably on Wednesday over the material.

Personal Finance: Students finished Chad Foster's Financial Literacy for Teens on Friday. We will review the material on Monday and a Test over the material on Tuesday. I will be going over all the questions in the review. Students will also be turning in the questions they have been answering in class for a completion grade. We will start on career choices this week and students will be completing a powerpoint on different career choices. This will probable take 5 to 7 days to complete.
